7. FIRESIDE CHAT: WHAT'S HAPPENING WITH THEOLOGICAL EDUCATION? A conversation with the Rev'd Dr. Christopher Brittain.
How is theological education and formation changing in our present moment? How are recent online adaptations helpful, and how are they frustrating? How can theological education equip both clergy and laity? How does one begin discerning a call to ministry in the Church? Why are there two Anglican colleges literally right across the street from one another in Toronto? Chris Brittain will engage with these and other questions from his perspective as Dean of Divinity of Trinity College, Toronto. Connect at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84108187391 Passcode: Vespers (Meeting ID: 841 0818 7391).
Simply watch the film prior to that time (check online services and your local library), and come prepared for a stimulating discussion. In this critically-acclaimed film Brendan Gleeson plays a priest who has received a death threat, though for the sins of someone else from the ranks of the clergy. What is the proper response? Should he play the role of a 'sacrificial lamb'? How might this connect with our experience and reflection on collective and generational sin?
